A PIECE OF JAPAN IN MSU

Not many people know, but the First GUM grows beautiful sakura. Did you know that the botanical name for sakura is serrated cherry?

The first sakura on the territory of Moscow State University was planted on May 3, 2010. The former mayor of Moscow, Yu. M. Luzhkov, together with the vice-governor of Tokyo, K. Muroyama, and the rector of Moscow State University, V. A. Sadovnichim, planted a whole alley near the Main Building. Guests from Japan brought a special kind of plant that can survive in frosty weather.

Cherry blossoms bloom during the final exams. One of them already passed yesterday. We wish good luck to all graduates at this difficult but interesting stage of life!
